There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.” —Maya Angelou

Hi, I’m Kate (she/her) and I’m all about creating a space where you feel safe, supported, and free to be yourself. I specialize in supporting teens, young adults, and parents, helping them navigate life’s ups and downs. My approach is LGBTQ+ affirming and grounded in anti-oppressive practices, so you can show up as your true self.

Whether you’re exploring who you are, how to feel stronger, or how to deal with adversity, I’m here to help you figure it out in a way that works for you.

Experience, Training and Licensure:

  • Smith College School of Social Work: Masters of Social Work, 2001

  • School social worker in Portland and Gresham (22 years) and wellbeing catalyst lead at a school in Helsinki, Finland (4 years)

  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker - Oregon (#3474) since 2003, Washington (#LW61634166) and New York (#99373).

  • The National Association of Social Workers (NASW) Code of Ethics guides my practice with social work’s core values: service, social justice, dignity and worth of the person, importance of human relationships, integrity, and competence.

My counseling style is built on trust, engagement and relationships. First, we’ll get to know each other and talk about what’s happening and what you’re hoping to change. From there, we’ll come up with a plan together to unlock what’s holding you back and how to move forward.

I use a mix of different tools and techniques to help, like systems work, mindfulness, rewriting your story, understanding and rewiring your nervous system, and pulling from your strengths. I also apply theories including ACT, DBT, IFS, and MI to make sure what we’re doing feels impactful.

I am also a parent to two teenagers myself, have lived overseas with my family in Finland for several years, and have a big love of the outdoors, travel, live music, yoga, biking, and the arts. I believe in social justice and the power of a strong community to heal people’s minds and hearts.
